Heat wave, vacation time and pandemic - a not really harmonious triad. Because in the places where all three things can currently be agreed in the most tolerable way in this country - the beaches on the North and Baltic Seas - space is running out. Good for those who have chosen a destination that is not too crowded.

Quotes vacationers:

"I only had concerns about going to the beach that we would be forbidden because the distances have to be kept. But I was surprised that people keep their distance and that there is enough space."

"It feels different, people keep their distance. Especially when you go shopping and tourism and so on. So you can tell a difference, also through the masks and such."

It looks different at the Bay of Lübeck. Everything full, like Timmendorfer Strand here. A look at the Stranticker.de website, which lists the status of the seaside resorts in the region, shows only red lights on Saturday morning. Nobody can get in here.

In addition, for holidaymakers as well as for those who sweat at home, the extremely annoying mask requirement, especially at temperatures around 35 degrees. After all: As annoying as wearing the mouth and nose protection may be, it won't hurt anyone, even in the heat.

O-TON ARNE EICHBERGER, SENIOR DOCTOR IN PNEUMOLOGY, COMMUNITY HOSPITAL HAVELHÖHE

"There is no evidence at all, and nobody would recommend people or many people to wear a mask permanently if there were any signs that they would endanger people's health. That would be absolutely unjustifiable. You have to cost and the benefits or the pros and cons, of course. And there is in no way any indication that people are now getting oxygen starvation or health damage from wearing a mask. "

At the other extreme: These pictures seem like they come from a world far away, but: that too is Germany. On the Zugspitze, almost 3000 meters above sea level, holidaymakers actually wear jackets:

O-Ton visitors:

"That's surprising. Actually, I thought it would be a bit colder. I have the feeling that the fact that the sun is shining makes it much warmer than twelve degrees and actually so pleasant."

And on top of that, there is an equally rare fantastic distant view.
