The secretariat of the Medical Association last night (Sunday) approved at the end of a special meeting a declaration of a labor dispute that will apply to the entire public health system in Israel. This means that within 14 days, as long as things do not reach an appropriate solution, it will be possible to launch organizational measures to the point of a general strike by 28,000 doctors in hospitals and community clinics.

The labor dispute was declared in light of, among other things, the non-allocation of standards required to meet the exceptional workload during the Corona period (including multiple shifts) and against the background of the severe shortage of hospitals and the community; And in light of the decision of the finance officials to impose on the hospitals part of the funding of the additional standards - which will further deepen the growing deficits and necessitate the dismissal of employees.

Among the causes of the conflict are the intention to dismiss in bad faith doctors employed in hospitals through health corporations (a move that will exacerbate the burden on medical staff), partial payment to some doctors during the corona period, deduction of sick days from doctors forced into solitary confinement, and lack of indemnity to doctors Many on a special arrangement for children when disabling the frames.

Prof. Hagai added: "I call on Health Minister Yuli Edelstein and Finance Minister Israel Katz to intervene immediately and prevent organizational measures at this time. The Medical Association acted stately throughout the crisis while fully mobilizing from the first moment, but if anyone thought we would stand aside in the face of harm to doctors and the general public. "He was forced to stand up for his mistake."
