Six French tourists and two Nigerians, respectively guide and driver of the group, were killed by armed men in Niger, in the Kourè area. This was reported by the governor of Tillaberi, Tidjani Ibrahim Katiella, to the AFP. The attackers, according to the first information tweeted by the AFP, would have acted on a motorcycle. The area is home to some of the largest groups of giraffes in West Africa
" Most of the victims were shot dead and a woman who managed to escape was captured and slaughtered . A magazine emptied of cartridges was found on the spot." This was reported by a Nigerian source, explaining the dynamics of the attack by a commando against a group of tourists, which cost the lives of six French and two Nigerians, the guide and the driver.
"The attack took place around 11:30 6km east of the city of Kouré," which is an hour's drive from the capital Niamey, the source added. "We do not know the identity of the attackers but they entered by motorbike through the bush and waited for the tourists to arrive. The vehicle borrowed by the tourists belongs to the NGO Acted".
