From Monday August 10, it will be prohibited to stroll on the banks of the Seine, stroll in Montmartre or go shopping in the main shopping streets of the capital without wearing a mask. Paris is following in the footsteps of Lille, Marseille or even Rennes to curb the increase in Covid-19 cases.
According to Audrey Pulvar, deputy mayor of Paris, the obligation to wear a mask in Paris "will be applied with a lot of education" and "a very clear display in the streets" will be put in place. The map of the areas concerned has been drawn up taking into account the ability of local residents to “observe safety distances” and will be “evolving”.
The same measure concerns many municipalities in Ile-de-France since "all indicators show that the virus is again circulating more actively in the region", according to the departmental prefectures.
