Some very well-publicized judgments have led me to ponder one of the burning issues of the period: the severity of the act versus the severity of the punishment the defendant received. Comparing the different punishments received by each of the celebrities below puts a very dirty look in front of our justice system, especially if you are a woman, or worst of all - a girl, whose whole sin was to admire a pop star.

Ronen Beatty, the father of Adi Beatty, admitted to committing indecent acts and sexually harassing his minor daughter's fans. He was sent for nine months of service work.

Moshe Ivgi, one of the most esteemed players in Israel until recently, was convicted of committing two offenses of indecent act. He was sent for six months of service work.

Tzipi Refaeli has been charged with a number of tax offenses. She paid a fine of NIS 2.5 million and will be sent to prison for 16 months. That is: Refaeli was sentenced to a longer time in prison, than a combination of the service periods of both Beatty and Ivgi.

I want to believe that in our courts sit fair and honest judges who surely understand much more than I do in this area and yet, something here is not working out for me. If you are a woman, and like half the women in the world, it is estimated that you have been harassed or sexually assaulted in your life, it is likely that something has not worked out for you either.

Before proceeding with a proper disclosure, it is no secret that Tzipi Refaeli and I are friends. Even soul mates. And it could very well be that out of personal pain and worry was born this question. But companies or not, it does not change the facts in any way.

How can two men who took advantage of their status, who physically harmed women and girls and have a high chance of being scarred for the rest of their lives, not go to jail for even one day while Refaeli, whose purely financial harm, will go to jail for almost a year and a half? How is it that Moshe Ivgi will compensate the complainant with only ten thousand shekels, while Refaeli will pay a fine of 2.5 million shekels? How can Ronen Beatty, who sexually harassed seven minors, not pay even one shekel?

• The actress who wanted to leave "Friends"

The message that girls, teenagers and women in Israel receive is clear: to evade a more severe tax than to sexually harm them. The year 2020 has brought us countless gifts that we would rather forget. But two years after the outbreak of the #METOO movement in consciousness, one would have hoped that such an extreme imbalance would not recur.
