Photo: Jens Kalaene / dpaActor Rainer Bock comes from Schleswig-Holstein, but has lived in Bavaria for a long time. Nevertheless, he is always drawn to the North Sea. "I have to go to Sylt once a year, for example, and not to Kampen, but simply to Sylt," the 66-year-old told the German press agency.
He wanted to "smell this smell and feel the North Sea," said Bock. "It's a bit malicious because I grew up on the Baltic Sea." Even as a child he found the Baltic Sea boring. "I had rich relatives who had a small apartment on Sylt that we were allowed to use. And that's how I grew up with Sylt."
Bock, who has lived in Munich for almost 20 years, is familiar with his old home in Kiel. When he thinks of the city he "always has a smile on his face". "I'm not one of those people who think: Home is where I am," he said. "Home is where I was born and raised. Much of it has solidified in my body, in my spirit, in my soul. It is associated with great warmth."
Bock has taken on supporting roles in numerous famous series and films, including some episodes of the US series "Better Call Saul"and the war film "Companions" . He played his first leading role in the movie "Atlas", which was released in 2019.On Wednesday he can be seen in the ARD film "My Indian Summer", in which he embodies Iris Berben's husband.
