The ministry also said that police used firearms against a group of people protesting in Brest, in the southwest of the country, and that one of the demonstrators was injured. The Interfax agency reports. According to the ministry, officers fired to defend themselves after being "attacked by a group of aggressive citizens holding metal bars". The Belarusian police are accused of using violence to try to suppress the protests of recent days.
