High temperatures continue to determine the weather situation in Germany. According to the forecast, it can get up to 36 degrees during the day. In the west and south-west of Germany, it is warmest on Wednesday, according to the German Weather Service (DWD). At the sea it is a little cooler with maximum temperatures of 25 to 30 degrees.

While it remains sunny and dry in the north and east, there is a risk of partly strong thunderstorms in other regions in the coming days. Especially in the west and southwest as well as in the Alps there is a local risk of storms on Wednesday, according to the DWD. Heavy rain and stormy gusts are to be expected here.

Fire brigade in action

Violent storms had already hit parts of Germany on Tuesday. The Frankfurt fire brigade recorded almost 300 missions within two and a half hours. In Rhineland-Palatinate, heavy rain had impaired traffic along the Moselle between Zell (Cochem-Zell district) and Traben-Trarbach (Bernkastel-Wittlich district) for hours. Individual streets were not passable due to fallen trees or a landslide.

In Bavaria, the Schweinfurt fire brigade moved out 90 times in the evening because of a storm. In most cases the basements were full.

There is hardly any change in sight for the next few days either: On Thursday and Friday, high temperatures alternate with thunderstorms and local storms.
