"Les pibis": who is Lucas Grimson, the young civil servant who went viral

In the part of the Ministry of Health on Wednesday, an expression of the young official Lucas Grimson , a member of the Directorate of Adolescents and Youth of that portfolio, surprised by advancing in inclusive language, passing the use of the "e". Grimson referred to "les pibis", to differentiate it from pibes and pibas.

"It is key that we young people also take care of ourselves. No one is more cool for not wearing a mask on the street or for putting it on badly. The kids, the girls, the pibis  can be part of facing this pandemic," Grimson said at a conference in the International Youth Day .

Grimson is 19 years old and as presented on his Twitter profile, he works in the Ministry's Directorate for Adolescents and Youth, studies Political Science and is a member of the Nueva Mayoría space. She graduated from the Instituto Libre de Segunda Enseñanza (ILSE) where she was a member of the College's Gender Commission , a group that she had formed with other former colleagues and that set out to rethink masculinity.

"If we choose to treat (an abuser) as an individual psychopath, his attitude can never be reversed or the system changed because his behavior is part of adolescent masculinity and sexual codes," he purposely wrote in a column on Page 12 in January 2018 from escraches to denounced for sexual abuse. 

Now, at this Wednesday's conference, he spoke to young people about the need to take care of the coronavirus. " Nobody is more cool for not wearing a chinstrap on the street, " he said.  

"On this date we focus on the participation of adolescents and young people in decision-making and health promotion actions in the context of the pandemic. We understand health from an integral conception and it is essential to consider participation as part of this, "said Grimson who, during his participation, addressed using inclusive language.

Regarding the pandemic, Grimson recognized that "confinement can generate anger, boredom, loneliness" but that it is important to remember "that both distance and isolation are physical but not emotional."
