Instead, he wants to completely reissue the sitcom and bring the series "Bel-Air" to life. Anyone hoping for the finest classic sitcom comedy, however, could be disappointed.
“The Prince of Bel-Air”: Will Smith was inspired by a brilliant fan project
In 2019, a trailer that appeared to be promoting a film based on The Prince of Bel-Air went viral on the internet . In fact, it was a fan project with the creator Morgan Cooper wanted to express his love for the series. The internet loved the idea as Morgan not only moved the sitcom's plot to 2019, but also staged it as a drama rather than a comedy.
Will Smith was also impressed and indicated several months ago that he wanted to pull up Cooper's remake as a bigger project. And in fact there are now concrete plans: “Bel-Air” is to become an independent series. When it will appear and which streaming service it will offer is not yet known. Talks between Will Smith's production company Westbrook Studio and platforms such as Netflix or Prime Video should already take place, reports the Deadline magazine.

Morgan Cooper has the honor of producing the upcoming Bel-Air series. At the same time he directs and writes the scripts. If you think that Will Smith is personally in front of the camera, you shouldn't rejoice too soon: At the moment, the actor only seems to want to work as a producer on "Bel-Air" - his iconic role as Will may therefore be taken over by someone else, younger Actor.
In addition, the series will be structured in a similar way to the trailer: It is therefore a drama that should contain fewer comedy elements. If you love “The Prince of Bel-Air” because of the funny scenes and dialogues, you could be disappointed by the reboot.
