A 21-year-old drowned in a bathing pond in Wallersdorf in the Lower Bavarian district of Dingolfing-Landau. That is what the police said.
The man swam on Wednesday evening first to the opposite bank, which is about a hundred meters away. On his return he went down roughly in the middle of the pond and never reappeared.
Friends of the 21-year-old then alerted the fire brigade, which started the search with the support of the water rescue service and a rescue helicopter.
According to the police, the man was found dead four hours later, around 11 p.m.
