"The indicators for monitoring the epidemic on the national territory continue to deteriorate", can only note the General Management

Number of new cases, number of epidemic outbreaks, positivity rate: all these indicators testifying to the circulation of the coronavirus inexorably continue to increase in this month of August. This Thursday, 2,669 new cases of coronavirus were identified in 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health, against 2,524 the day before and 1,604 last Thursday. In one week, out of a total of more than 608,000 tests, some 12,301 people were diagnosed positive.

The positivity rate is also increasing and now stands at 2.3% between August 4 and 10. It was 1.6% during the week of July 28 to August 3. Since Wednesday, 30 new epidemic centers have counted. In total, 926 “clusters” have been formed since May 9, but 595 of them have since been “closed”. "The indicators for monitoring the epidemic on the national territory continue to deteriorate", can only note the DGS.

More than 200 people hospitalized in 24 hours

In 24 hours, 17 new deaths were recorded in hospitals. Since the start of the epidemic, 19,883 people have died in a hospital establishment and 10,505 deaths have occurred in social and medico-social establishments, such as nursing homes. In total, the epidemic has killed 30,388 people since the start of March.

In addition, according to the DGS, 4,864 people are currently hospitalized after being infected with SARS-CoV-2. Even if this represents 27 fewer patients in 24 hours, the number of new patients hospitalized in one day (201) is on the rise. The trend is similar in intensive care units, with 374 patients treated (-5 since Wednesday) and 25 people admitted to these services dedicated to the most serious cases in the last 24 hours.
