A year has already passed. A year since the friends of the Hyenas greeted her by publishing the video of that slow and relaxed dance of hers at sunset. Because everyone imagined her like this, now far away and free from that tumor that took her away when she was just 40 years old. A year has already passed since Nadia Toffa's death and we hardly noticed it, not because we were monopolized by the pandemic, but because she somehow remained in that small screen that she loved so much. She remained with the memory of his smile and his irony, present even when the evil made itself felt strong. She remained in her way of doing reporting services, even when she got threats and beatings from those who did not want the truth to come to light. He also remained in his way of speaking openly about cancer and wanting to define it as "a gift", which had made it "Bloom in winter" as he wrote in his book and as he testified on social media talking about chemo and nausea, mothers and friends who give you strength in the darkest moments and also of boyfriends who go into hiding just when you need it most. Many, sick and relatives of sick people, had felt reassured and strengthened by her words, others had become angry and had targeted her with insults and wicked death wishes because they would have gladly spared that "gift". But she had reacted with her head held high by continuing to defend the absolute freedom of each patient to speak as and as much as he wants about his illness or not to speak at all. And carrying out his most important message: "It is not important how much you live but how you live ...".

"It was a very difficult year. I miss Nadia a lot, even if I still feel her close to me" says Margherita Rebuffoni, the journalist's mother, who also announced that tomorrow a song that Nadia had recorded shortly before her death will be released. which he cared a lot. "She had incredible strength and it was she who transmitted serenity and tranquility to me. She underwent five surgeries in two years and also overcome meningitis. When the tumor came back for the last time she noticed it on her own without doing the tac ". And she adds: "She was clinging to life and taught me to love and accept everything that happens to us. Now she relives in all the activities of the Foundation that bears her name." The mother also talks about the place where her daughter is buried: "Only my husband and I know and we will never say it. We are terrified that they may take her away from us as happened to Mike Bongiorno".

Italia 1 on 13 August recalls that "wren" of Iena, unlucky but never tamed, with the prime-time special episode "Le Iene per Nadia" by Davide Parenti and Max Ferrigno. "I believe that if Nadia saw us doing what we are doing - explains Parenti - she would kill herself with laughter! A year later we are about to show you something for which we are absolutely not equipped, because in this special dedicated to Nadia all the people who will speak they worked with her, who normally are behind the camera they don't know they are here, where I am sitting and where we do not know how to be, ie in front ... ". On the air a long tribute with unpublished contents, memories, interviews, stories and images that retrace moments of Nadia's working life: from the great commitment to the Terra dei Fuochi and to Taranto (which also gave her honorary citizenship) to the reportage, made with Gaston Zama, on the violence of the caliphate (with which he won as the best TV journalist of the year). Then the interview with her legend Terence Hill (who gave her an autographed bowl to eat the beans) and the meetings with Jovanotti and Biagio Antonacci. And the story without discount of his illness: from the first illness in Trieste in December 2017 to the treatment at the San Raffaele in Milan, from his return in February 2018 on TV - when he announced to his family of anxious fans at home: "I had a cancer and I had chemo "- until the last episode on May 5, 2019. He could hardly walk anymore, but he gave everyone his smile. Finally, the return of 100 hyenas on the screen in his memory on 1 October 2019. In short, a year has passed, but the testimony of Nadia Toffa does not fade. "Someone - as his friends wrote - might think that you have lost, but those who have lived like you never lose".
