Rosi's 'Notturno' at the New York Film Festival

(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 13 - The participation of Notturno, the film by GianfrancoRosi already in the Official Selection of the Toronto International FilmFestival and in the line up of the Telluride Film Festival, has been announced by the New York FilmFestival: it is therefore the third American stage of the film which wins the distinction of having been selected for all three of the most important American Festivals. The world premiere, on the other hand, will be held on 8 September in competition at the Venice Film Festival, before being released on 9 September distributed by 01 Distribution.
    Notturno has North American sales handled by Submarine Entertainment and The Match Factory for international sales.
    Shot over the course of three years in the Middle East on the borders between Iraq, Kurdistan, Syria and Lebanon, the film tells the daily life behind the continuing tragedy of civil warfare, ferocious dictatorships, invasions and foreign interference, up to the murderous Isis apocalypse. Different stories to which the narration confers a unity that goes beyond geographical divisions. All around, and within the consciences, signs of violence and destruction: but in the foreground is the humanity that awakens every day from a night that seems infinite.
    Direction, photography and sound are by Gianfranco Rosi, the montage is by Jacopo Quadri, with the collaboration of FabrizioFederico. The film is a 21Uno Film - Stemal Entertainment production with Rai Cinema, with the contribution of Dg Cinema and Audiovisivo-Mibact and with the support of Eurimages, in association with Istituto Luce-Cinecittà, produced by DonatellaPalermo for Stemal Entertainment and Gianfranco Rosi for 21UnoFilm.
