Sort laundry: by color

To avoid annoying discoloration of your favorite items, you have to make sure that the laundry is sorted correctly by color . You should separate the laundry according to these colors:

• In addition to white clothing, white clothing also includes items in light blue, light pink, light gray and lilac.
• Light colored laundry includes orange, pink and yellow.
• Dark colored laundry includes blue, green or red.
• Dark laundry includes black, brown and dark gray.
• Patterned laundry with light and dark colors is more complicated. When it comes to hand washing, however, you are on the safe side. If this is not an alternative, it is recommended to give the patterned piece to the dark wash sooner.

• Separate light-colored laundry from dark laundry .
• White linen should be washed separately possible.
• Intense colors like black or blood red tend to rub off on other laundry . Wash them with like colors.
• The age of the laundry also plays a role. An older garment will give off less color.
• Even so, older clothes should not be washed with white or very light-colored laundry - this will cause discoloration.

It is also particularly important that you sort the laundry according to the correct washing temperature . For example, if a part is washed too hot, it could shrink or change shape. The temperature at which a piece should be washed can be found on the label.

• Hand wash : Delicate textiles such as silk or wool should be hand washed as cold as possible.
• Wash at 30 degrees: Wash items such as curtains, jeans, bras or clothes that stain easily at 30 degrees.
• Wash at 40 degrees: Everyday clothing such as T-shirts, shirts, dresses or colored laundry should be washed at 40 degrees.
• Wash at 60 degrees: Wash underwear, pajamas, bed linen and towels at 60 degrees.
• Laundry at 90 degrees: Only wash heavily soiled cotton laundry at 90 degrees.
