Were you also a little skeptical when friends and relatives suddenly started raving about "Skyr" ? A few years ago there was not so much to imagine about this product in mainland Europe. But those who tried it were usually thrilled - and the low-fat cream cheese soon turned out to be a true trend product of our time.
In the country of origin Iceland, however , the population had long known that Skyr is tasty and at the same time can be used in many ways. Instead of just spooning it out of a bowl or mug, it can also be used for delicious cakes . We present an example of a recipe in this article.
Skyr Cake - These are the ingredients you need
We anticipate the special feature of this recipe: there is no dough that has to be put in the oven. Instead, your refrigerator plays the most important role in making the cool, summery dessert a success. You need the following ingredients:
- 115 g butter
- 200 g ladyfingers
- 450 g Skyr (preferably with fruit such as blueberries or strawberries)
- 2 eggs
- Half a vanilla pod
- 240 g confectioner's cream
- 60 g milk
- 2.5 tablespoons of gelatin
- Berries to decorate (choose depending on your preferences)
