Actress Judi Dench cannot be kept from her love of art permanently by health problems: "I don't see much anymore," said the 85-year-old of the "Augsburger Allgemeine". That's why she temporarily stopped painting.

"But a friend convinced me that you can also paint when you can no longer see everything," said the British woman. Since then, she has been going to a painting group every Tuesday, "where I paint for three hours or more with nine other hobby artists." There is hardly any talk. "A heavenly pleasure for me," said Dench.

On the other hand, she had to give up another hobby: she used to like to read a lot. That is no longer possible because of her bad eyesight.

"Great joy" in role of M

Dench is known, among other things, as the actress of the secret service chief M in some James Bond films. She doesn't miss the role, she said now - and explains why she originally signed up for her at all: "I only accepted it at the time because my husband loved the idea of living under one roof with a Bond woman. And then I actually really enjoyed it. " But it was also no problem that after eight appearances as M it was over.
