Consistency, this is what a large number of French people and doctors have been asking for several weeks about wearing a mask in the fight against Covid-19. Compulsory in more and more urban areas in the open air, especially in Paris, it remains purely optional in enclosed private places, in particular businesses.
The French High Council for Public Health (HCSP) gave a clear opinion on Friday, while the government is currently discussing the subject with the social partners. In a press release, the HCSP advocates the “systematic” wearing of a mask, “preferably in reusable fabric”, in “all closed public and private collective places” to fight against Covid-19.
The conclusions of the HCSP released this weekend stem from the study of publications "describing the contaminations that have occurred in closed public spaces (restaurant, buses, cruise ships, choir rehearsals, etc.) and certain professional circles (slaughterhouses, etc.) .) ”. The HCSP recalls that “other barrier measures of physical distancing, hand hygiene, cleaning and disinfection of surfaces and ventilation of the premises” must be "associated" with this recommendation to wear a mask. The HCSP also recommends wearing a mask "in the event of a gathering with a high density of people outdoors in order to limit the emission of respiratory particles".
A subject in the office but also in the classroom
Jean Castex has for the moment simply mentioned the idea of "generalizing as much as possible the wearing of a mask in the workplace". In a text published on Friday by Liberation, a collective of doctors also held the same speech as the High Council on the question of the mask. According to them, it is "urgent to make the wearing of masks compulsory in all enclosed spaces, in all offices, in all classrooms and lecture halls, and also to unambiguously encourage teleworking, distance learning and reorganization. classes with smaller numbers ”.
This week, the medical and governmental spheres have continued to alert to prevent the potential arrival of a second wave of contamination.
With 2,846 new cases of coronavirus in 24 hours "the situation is deteriorating" in France, warned the Director General of Health Jérôme Salomon on Friday. Jérôme Salomon, however, refuses any alarmism: "we can curb the epidemic and put an end to risky clusters ," he said on France Inter, citing the fight in Mayenne, a department where several outbreaks of Covid-19 had been identified. “The people of Mayenne mobilized, observed all the barrier gestures, agreed to be massively tested: it worked! ".
