(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 15 - Millions of votes for the US presidential elections in November 2020 sent by post could not arrive in time to be counted. This is the warning of the USPS (the American postal service) contained in a letter sent in July to all states, according to what was revealed by the NBC while the controversy between American President Donald Trump and the Democrats over the vote by mail rages.
"Some deadlines - it is written in the letter - may be incompatible with our delivery services". NBC contacted all 50 US states to find out if they had received the USPS letter. Eighteen of these, including Arizona, Florida and Michigan, confirmed they received it and shared it with the broadcaster. Vermont, Wisconsin and Kentucky s said they didn't have it. "The deadlines for requesting and submitting ballot papers are incompatible with postal service delivery standards," reads the letter signed by General Counselor Thomas Marshall. "This discrepancy creates the risk that the votes will not arrive in time to be counted according to the laws of your states," the letter still reads. Tens of millions of Americans have the requirements to vote by mail in the presidential elections. A basin that, due to the coronavirus pandemic, has increased in many states (ANSA).
