A new series from the creator of HBO called "Land of Lovecraft" will air tomorrow (Monday) on yes, HOT and Cellcom TV. The series combines fantasy, horror and monsters with themes such as racism against blacks in the US.

This is a television adaptation of a dark fantasy novel of the same name written by author Matt Ruff and published four years ago. The book has captured the attention of two Hollywood producers J.J. Abrahams (who has signed Star Wars and Mission Impossible films, among others) and African-American director Jordan Phil, who won an Oscar for the screenplay for the horror film "Escape,"

are among the producers of the series. , Whose plot takes place in the southern United States during the 1950s, when the infamous Jim Crow laws were strictly enforced, which established racial segregation in public space and white supremacy over blacks.

The plot follows the three heroes who embark on a journey and encounter not only the human monster who are the violent racist whites, but also real monsters that emerge from the ground. The three are Atticus (Jonathan Majors, "Norman's Gold"), his girlfriend Letty (Journey Smolt, "Birds of Prey and the Stunning Harley Quinn") and his uncle George (Courtney B. Vance, "America Against Or." J. Simpson "), who set out in search of Atticus' father, Montrose Freeman, played by actor Michael Kenneth Williams.

For Williams (53) this is another series as part of his successful engagement over the years with HBO. He starred in the acclaimed "Undercover" for five seasons as Omar Little, the gay gangster who hangs out with a gun whip and a drug dealer robber. He also played a gangster for five seasons of "Empire of Crime" and starred alongside Kevin Latifa in the 2015 mini-series "Bessie." A year later he also appeared in the mini-series "Event Night". For the last two roles he was nominated for an Emmy Award.

Last year he was again nominated for Emmy for his role in the Netflix talk show mini-series "When They See Us." On the big screen he has appeared in Oscar-winning films like "Robocop", "Purge 2" and "12 Years of Slavery".

In a special interview to promote the series "Land of Lovecraft," says Williams that "Of all the projects I've done, this series unusual for me. This time it's an opportunity to submit an artistic work that places contemporary look for the world to begin to understand what we, in the black community, are facing.

"We have been subjected to systematic trauma all our lives. It started in slavery and continued with the racism of Jim Crow's laws. They may have been abolished, but they have a trace to this day. These are burning issues that have never disappeared or been settled. Without spoilers, I'll just say that the writers did a beautiful job in the way they combined then and now while addressing issues relevant to our day.

" , He explains, "not only racism, but also misogyny, discrimination against women, fear of strangers and all the ways in which people treat others. The monsters are us.

"I love that the center has a story of an African-American family told through its eyes. That's the genius of the script. I hope to see more such black works that will give us the freedom to bring our stories, whether horror, love, drama or comedy." There are many layers to the black experience "And the time has come for us to be given the resources to share them with everyone."
