Moments after celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of the cult film "Clueless," it is now clear that a television version that will continue the film's plots is officially in development.
"Clueless", the witty teen comedy about materialistic but harmless high school girls in Beverly Hills, was released in July 1995 and was considered the surprise hit of the summer with revenue of $ 56 million against a budget of $ 12 million. The screenplay was inspired by Jane Austen's 1815 novel "Emma" with plot lines adapted to the end of the 20th century.
Over the years the film has become a real cult. He has appeared on the list of modern classics in the comedy genre and has also been noted as one of the best American teen movies. Clouls' main star, Alicia Silverstone, has won the biggest breakthrough of her career. The film also starred Paul Rudd, who is Annette from the Marvel Comics "Avengers" gang, and actress Britney Murphy who passed away in 2009.
Silverstone, who was discovered before the film in aerosmiths by the band Aerosmith, played Sher Horowitz in the film, a rich teenager who loves brands but with a heart of gold and a colorful and lively personality. Her best friend, Dion Davenport, was played by actress Stacey Dash. In the TV version that is currently in development, the character of Dion will be at the center of the plot.
Behind the idea are a pair of writers who worked on the sitcom "Will and Grace" and among the producers is one of the producers of the "Virgin Jane" series. According to reports, the future series is still far from the casting stages, nor is it clear if any of the stars of the original film will take part in the project, whether behind the scenes or in front of the camera.
• So if: This is what the "Clouls" stars look like today,
if all goes well, this will be the second TV series following "Clouls". A year after the film came out, a series of the same name came up. The series ran for three seasons and starred several film actors, with the exception of Silverstone who then became a movie star. Actress Rachel Blanchard stepped into Sher Horowitz's designer shoes.
