Roi Zilber (46), Ariel's son, tried to make music like Dad, but would have preferred a different stage there • So he settles for a musical production and releases a new adaptation of the song "No one sheds a tear"

It is not easy to be the "son of", a second generation of creation. This heavy burden was felt by Roy Zilber (46), the son of Ariel Zilber, who eventually chose to move away from a singer's career.

Still, he stays close to the music. Zilber Jr. is a video editor and sometimes also does musical productions. His new project is a new musical adaptation and production of the song "Nobody Sheds a Tear" by the late Shmulik Chizik, which was released in 1984. Chizik passed away in 1987 at the age of 42. Zilber took the original song and gave it a new life. .

"most of my life I have around music, but after that I tried to be center stage, and I did so because I felt it was a burden too great to be up front and be 'son of'. I also made a documentary ("Me and the Silver") about my relationship with Dad, and the dialogue we have around music. In my profession I do video editing and promos, but I also do music when I have the chance. "

Did you know Chizik as a child?

"I have a memory of him only as a character. As a child I participated in the clip for the song 'I lie on my back' and Chizik also participated in the clip. He is a very tragic character with a fascinating, sad and problematic life story. He wrote many hits and not many know it. I listened "To the original song and I started playing with it in my head, turning it into something up-to-date and new. Then I got the rights from his heirs and decided to release the new adaptation. I wanted to revive Chizik so that people would know the song and its story."

The lyrics of the song are harsh: "No one sheds a tear, no one feels pain ... no one glances."

"I guess everyone takes those words to their place, but for me it's really one-on-one with things happening here, the social cold, the apathy, a time when people became violent."

Never released an album.

"I worked on a Hebrew album more than ten years ago, but I did not release it at the end. The album was already ready, but at some point I felt it was not for me. Being at the front did not suit me."

Any thoughts on getting it out sometime?

"The truth is that a lot of time has passed. I have to decide if I want to do something with it later. It's very complex for me."

Did you involve your dad in the work on the song?

"I let him listen to all the stages. He was very impressed with the processing and production, but I don't know if emotionally he connects to such sad things these days. He helped me a bit with the sound and little directions I thought of."

Do you live in peace with being the "son of"?

"Maybe as you get older it's easier (laughs), but obviously if I wanted to be on stage - I would rather have a different stage there, create from a clean place. It puts a very heavy burden on me, and for my character it's too hard."

• Ariel Zilber: "I became a punching bag"

• Israeli legend: Ariel Zilber's final chord The

more he moves politically to the right and becomes more religious, the heavier it becomes?

"I think it has always been a problem, even before repentance. The fact that he has distanced himself from me religiously and politically does not add up, but it is something that has always been problematic."

What about Dad these days? He has already stated several times about retiring from music.

"The truth is that he did not retire one hundred percent. He is still trying to perform but during this period it is very difficult."
