Dubai ice cube vendors have found an additional outlet for their products. In this emirate where temperatures can exceed 45 degrees in summer, some residents are now delivered blocks of ice to cool their swimming pool. "Some people ask to reduce the temperature of the swimming pool from 38 to 30 degrees, others from 30 to 25 ... The number of blocks of ice will depend on the temperature of the day", explains Jerin, sales manager of the Emirati company Gulf Ice Factory and Modern Ice Factory.
This solution is very successful this year because of the pandemic which forces people to stay at home. “You can really lower the temperature and it lasts a while. It's perfect for enjoying weekends with friends during this strange time ”, says Costantino, Italian living in Dubai.
