(ANSA) - CALTAGIRONE (CATANIA), 18 AUG - Giuseppe Randazzo, the 50-year-old ceramist arrested by the police for the killing of his 46-year-old wife Catya DiStefano, has taken his life in the prison of Caltagirone, where since August 13 he was separating. The man hanged himself in his cell. Just yesterday, the investigating judge of Caltagirone had validated his arrest and issued a precautionary custody order against him. The Prosecutor of Caltagirone has opened an investigation into the man's death.
The man was accused of having killed his wife in front of the front door of the woman's house at the height of a dispute. The victim had started the paperwork for the separation request. The husband wanted to reconnect, but the wife was determined to carry on. On the afternoon of five days ago Randazzo had gone to wait for her in front of her house for yet another attempt at reconciliation. Instead, a violent altercation was born, which ended in tragedy.
