The Paderborn District Police Department has initiated disciplinary proceedings against a police officer for making racist statements. The 45-year-old was transferred from the patrol duty to the back office at another office, the police said.
Accordingly, colleagues of the official had reported to their superiors at the beginning of August of conspicuous statements with racist content. The matter is now being assessed under criminal law by the Paderborn public prosecutor.
The police said that the Paderborn District Administrator Manfred Müller (CDU) and the entire police leadership were taking the process very seriously. Racist statements have no place in the ranks of the police. "If the allegations are confirmed, the person concerned has to bear the civil servant law and possibly also the criminal law consequences," said Müller.
