Transport Minister Miri Regev addressed the National Security Council today (Tuesday), in order to examine the opening of the border with Egypt. If the move is implemented - Israelis will be able to go to Sinai.

Senior Ministry of Health officials strongly oppose the opening of the border, and in talks with "Israel Today" make it clear that Egypt is considered a red state. According to them, the move may cause many Israelis to go to Sinai - thus increasing the chances of infection during their vacation in Egypt.

Minister Regev's entourage says there is no change in the security risks that existed before the Corona, adding that Egypt is indeed considered a red state, but is no different from many other red states to which one can fly today.

The decision regarding the opening of the border will ultimately be made by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. If that happens, everyone will return from Sinai to Israel

For two weeks. Either way, the move is not expected to take place in the coming days.
