Covid-19: concern in Sarthe, which has just exceeded the epidemic alert threshold

2020-08-19T06:01:07.358Z

The incidence rate of the Pays de la Loire department stood at 52.5 cases of contamination per 100,000 inhabitants on Tuesday.

The incidence rate of cases tested positive for Covid-19 has exceeded the alert threshold in Sarthe. With 52.5 cases tested positive per 100,000 inhabitants over the last seven days, this indicator is up sharply compared to August 11 when it stood at 32 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the department.

The alert threshold is set at 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants per week. This rate is 19.5 on average at the regional level and 21.6 in the neighboring department of Mayenne, which had experienced a resurgence in the epidemic in early summer. The test positivity rate is 5.3% in Sarthe, against 3% nationally.

The ARS did not comment on these figures in its Covid-19 newsletter. But Tuesday morning, the ARS had however announced the continuation of a free screening campaign at Le Mans until August 21.

Reduce "viral circulation and epidemic pressure"

“The incidence and positivity rates indicate that the virus is actively circulating. Increased vigilance is required in Sarthe, and in the city of Le Mans. The stake is to avoid a new epidemic wave, by reducing the viral circulation and thus the epidemic pressure ”, wrote in a press release the ARS, the city of Mans and the prefecture.

Guyana, Bouches-du-Rhône, Paris and Val-de-Marne are also affected by this level of alert. Seine-Saint-Denis is currently located just below.

Tuesday evening, the DGS recorded 22 additional deaths in 24 hours. The hospital situation remains stable, but the positivity rate is still climbing.
