Eva Briñocoli's is a desperate cry, a request for help that also marks exhaustion. For 22 years, she has lived only to care for the youngest of her four children, who has suffered from severe cerebral palsy and seizures from birth that turned the boy's life and that of the whole family into a constant struggle. The passing of the years and the lack of a place to find containment led her to propose euthanasia as a way out of the enormous suffering that the young man suffers every day.

Adrián Martínez barely walks a few steps, he has almost no coordination and his life depends largely on the 13 tablets that he must take daily to stop - at least in part - the seizures that mark his hours .

The life of Eva and her family changed forever 22 years ago with the arrival of Adrián. The boy was born with a severe disability. After visiting the most reputed medical centers in the country, the conclusion was lapidary: there is no way to improve the quality of life of the young man, who goes from a wooden playpen to a bed or a chair .

In the 36 Viviendas de Candelaria neighborhood, just half an hour from Posadas, everyone knows Eva and highlights the commitment she always had for her family but especially with Adrián. For the woman and her partner, a prison officer, there are no family gatherings or birthday parties, nor the possibility of enjoying music because the slightly loud sounds upset Adrián and then the seizures return.

Mother and son, protagonists of a tremendous story in Misiones. Eva requests euthanasia for her 22-year-old son Adrián.

"There are people who say without knowing, I think they should know my family and my son, who has a 100% disability. Since we have it, our life passes between four walls. He does not speak, he does not feed himself, he cannot clean himself. It's like a big baby, ”the woman said.

In the program "El journalista" on Canal 12 de Posadas, Eva expressed the possibility of applying euthanasia to end the suffering of more than two decades of Adrián. “I prefer that the boy rest, because he also suffers. Sometimes she cries and we don't know what happens. Many will say that I am a bad mother, who wants to kill her son, but I ask you to put yourself in my shoes a bit, ”she said with a firm voice. To illustrate the situation of her son a little more, Eva said that the young man has his toys but does not know how to use them and his days pass between the bed and a wooden playpen that they made so that he does not injure himself.

The mother also said that they had to be extremely vigilant over Adrián because at certain times he seeks to harm himself . "He bites or pinches himself," Eva said. In addition, by his painting, he only sleeps three hours a day. The woman and her partner must get up every day at dawn to assist him. "Nor can strange people come to my house because Adrián doesn't like it, she gets sick," she added.

"With my husband we are getting older and I don't know what will happen to Adrián when we are gone," says Eva with undisguised concern. Is that in Misiones there is no medical center where they can treat the young at least a few hours a day. And she speaks from knowledge, since for two decades she has spent a large part of her life in the offices of clinical doctors, psychiatrists and other specialists with the hope of an evolution that does not come in Adrián's picture.
