Thor and Valhalla, giants and dwarfs - many set pieces of Norse myths are well known. But do you already know Tove? In "Röki" she becomes part of her very own Scandinavian hero saga
Berlin (dpa / tmn) - In the adventure game "Röki", players take on the role of the young girl Tove. She immerses herself on a dangerous journey into the mystical world of old Scandinavian legends full of trolls and ghosts.
But Tove is determined to face these and other dangers. Because her brother has disappeared - and she wants to save him.
Riddles instead of violence
"Röki" is not an action game, but a non-violent, classic adventure game, full of tricky puzzles and therefore also well suited for children. Tove encounters many strange creatures on her travels. She has to outsmart some of them, bail out others, for example a badly injured troll.
Exactly how this works is not to be revealed here. But it is always worthwhile to observe the environment closely, to examine useful objects and to combine them cleverly - as befits an adventure.
A living world of legends
The "Röki" developed by the British studio Polygon Treehouse not only convinces with the beautiful story and the tricky, but always fair puzzles - "Röki" is also a real eye-catcher.
Tove roams through beautiful winter forests and meadows and explores dark, mysterious caves. Light and shadow make even the bushes look as if they would get up and run away in the next moment. Mushrooms suddenly disappear into the ground when Tove walks past them and mice scurry through ancient walls.
"Röki" is available for the PC and costs around 20 euros. A version for Nintendo Switch will follow shortly.
