Pop star Katy Perry is expecting a baby with her fiancé Orlando Bloom. The heavily pregnant singer uses the time before the birth artistically and releases a new album called "Smile", in which she also deals intensively with the role of women between child and career - and with one goal, as she said in the interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music said.

"I don't want to have to choose between being a mother and what I love, it's so archaic," said the 35-year-old, who will soon be the mother of a girl. "I think the f *** ing reason women are given the responsibility to create a different life is because they can do it in a pair of heels."

With the song "What makes a woman" on the album, she wanted to express her appreciation for women. Physically they are able to give birth to "a watermelon", mentally they are bursting with ideas and projects. You yourself have thought about going to Oxford. Women artists are so diverse that it is difficult to define them.

"You don't read about fights between Ed Sheeran or Justin Bieber"

In public, however, prominent women are often portrayed as competitors, Perry said. "You don't read about fights between Ed Sheeran or Justin Bieber," she said. If you compare women with each other, it's different - and referred to Twitter comments, among other things. "It's all about who is better than who, who is thinner than who ..." That has to change and women have to stand closer together.

Perry considers himself competitive - but in terms of her art. She doesn't want to compete with other women, she just wants to be perceived and compared with regard to her music.

There were also deep thoughts behind the new pop album "Smile", as she revealed in the interview. It starts with the melancholy cover, on which she comes across as a sad clown. And she herself had gone through crises in recent years, said Perry - and called for more openness in dealing with mental problems.
