The new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Argentina were 5,352 and deaths, 137, as reported by the Ministry of Health of the Nation in its daily report this Sunday.

With these records, since the pandemic began, there have been 342,154 positives in the country while the deceased reached 6,985.

The Province of Buenos Aires, with 2,829 indicated 53 percent of the total cases of the day. It was followed by the City of Buenos Aires, with 1,020 new infected.

Of the total deaths this Sunday, the report indicated that 92 were men, 67 from Buenos Aires; 5 residents in the City of Buenos Aires; 2 from Córdoba; 1 from Mendoza; 4 from Río Negro; 1 from Santa Fe; 1 of Corrientes; 1 from Tierra del Fuego; 9 from La Rioja; 1 from Salta; and 45 women; 37 from the province of Buenos Aires; 3 from CABA; 2 from Santa Fe; 1 from La Rioja; and 2 residents in the province of Mendoza.

During this Sunday morning 99 new deaths were known. Alejandro Costa, Undersecretary of Health Strategies, was in charge of reporting the updated figures of the pandemic in the country. He indicated that the fatality rate is 2%, that there are 151 deaths per million inhabitants and that the average age of the fatal victims is 72.5 years.

According to the official, 336,802 people contracted the disease, the vast majority by community transmission, mainly in the metropolitan area of ​​Buenos Aires, Chaco, Neuquén, Río Negro, Mendoza, Santa Fe, Jujuy, La Pampa, Córdoba, Santa Cruz and Tierra of fire.

Meanwhile, on Saturday 18,837 new samples were taken and since the beginning of the outbreak, 1,092,556 diagnostic tests for this disease were carried out, which is equivalent to 24,077.4 samples per million inhabitants.

Meanwhile, the vaccine for the disease is eagerly awaited and in the midst of that urgent need, the Russian Minister of Industry and Commerce, Denis Manturov, assured that Russia will produce between 1.5 and 2 million doses of its coronavirus vaccine for end of this year.

The minister pointed out that the supply of the vaccine to other countries is being studied, but has warned that it will be necessary to cover domestic demand first.

Manturov further explained that the large-scale trial of the new vaccine, called Sputnik V, will begin next week. Several experts have questioned the efficacy of the Russian vaccine and the president of the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut, who is in charge of approving the vaccines in Germany, Klaus Cichutek, has described the use of it as "risk" due to the "deficiencies" in its validation process.
