Gallera, two thirds of new Lombard positives from abroad

(ANSA) - MILAN, AUGUST 23 - "Today we register 239 positive cases. Of these, 190 refer to people who are less than 50 years old. Two thirds of the positive cases concern citizens who return from abroad and their direct contacts. The increase in positive cases in Lombardy must always be compared to the number of swabs carried out. Without ever forgetting that, if we consider in terms of absolute comparisons, the number of inhabitants of Lombardy is equal to 1/6 of the national population. In this sense, in recent days, the percentages of Lombardy are in line and often better than those of other regions ". Thus the regional councilor for Welfare Giulio Gallera commented on today's data relating to infections in Lombardy.
    "In three days, thanks to the stations activated at Malpensa airport, 4,200 swabs were carried out", added Gallera. "Another 1,200 have already been done today and we expect to reach 2,000 by evening. The first 1,800 results reported showed 8 positivity. At Linate, on the other hand, 760 swabs were performed in two days and 600 swabs were performed in the space adjacent to the Bergamo fair, 600 swabs since yesterday morning for passengers arriving at the Orio al serio airport ".
