Mazzinghi: Federpugilato, we will dedicate a memorial to him

"The hero never dies. It turns into legend, navigating the hearts, memories and fantasies of those who loved him. Like the sun that rises and sets, it will always remain until the end of time". The deputy vice president, head of the Federpugilato communication and marketing sector, Flavio D'Ambrosi, thus remembers Sandro Mazzinghi, who passed away yesterday, anticipating the special dedication of the FPI.
    "Mazzinghi - he comments - will always be a hero for the boxing people, for Italy, for those who have had the privilege of witnessing his vibrant challenges and for the many who, like me, enjoy the narratives on his epic victories. Memorable his matches, his battles against the rival of all time, that great Benvenuti who then became his brotherly friend. Over 50 years ago, it was 1965, Mazzinghi and Benvenuti were passionate about and divided Italy but, above all, they contributed - like the brave warriors of the ancient Olympics - to sublimate the noble art of boxing. The brave, the loyal but rebellious fighter, Mazzinghi, against the style and technique elevated to Apollonian beauty, Benvenuti. My father and many of his generation describe Mazzinghi as a boxer inimitable in terms of strength, a fearless man who made the prediction of the match uncertain, creating the most beautiful spectacle: boxing. Several times world and European champion, Mazzinghi rests among the grand the boxing Olympians: this is how we will remember him; a legend with bright colors that inflames hearts and gives meaning to the daily work of the FPI, of the many companies and technicians who work to forge new champions.
    There were, today, Mazzinghi: indomitable and fearless.
    As a Federation, we have the obligation to never let his memory go out, passing it on to the generations, and to give Italy unforgettable moments like the magical 1965 nights.
    I hope that the timeless echo of his deeds animates the young boxers and encourages them to a courageous sporting life. For this reason, but also to help spread the noble values ​​and sentiments of a great 'fighter', the FPI intends to dedicate a memorial to him in an event of national importance ".
