Over 125 years old, Tower Bridge opens nearly 800 times a year to allow ships to navigate on the Thames in London. The spectacle which fascinates tourists lasted a little longer than usual on Saturday: after the passage of a boat, the structure remained stuck in the open position for several hours, causing big traffic jams in the British capital.
Only pedestrians have so far been authorized to use the bridge again after its repair. In 2005, the famous bridge had to close for nearly ten hours after suffering a similar mechanical problem.
