I like to go to my doctor's medical check-up. I have myself checked regularly and rarely have anything to worry about. All good, I heard that again last time. My blood values are all fine, bye, see you next year. Still, I felt strange. I could have been relieved, but it wasn't. I was prepared for the doctor to tell me otherwise. Perhaps that one cholesterol level is way too high, including blood sugar levels and blood pressure. And that she looks at me thoughtfully while I am sitting across from her, examining my stomach and blatantly asking: How do you eat like that?
What I was secretly hoping for was a kick in the buttocks. I wanted it to be medically and straightforwardly certified that I was putting my health at risk. That I have to say what is clear: Yes, I eat an unhealthy diet, and I want to change that. I wanted to be scared away from my eating habits. But really this time. Instead, I left the doctor's office with one question in mind: Why is it so difficult to start on your own?
