Through the documentary “Draw With Me,” Jennifer Lopez's nephew shares his experience opening up to his family and society as a transgender.

Jennifer Lopez has always shown her solidarity with the LGBTQ community and proudly speaks openly about her nephew Brendon Scholl , a young transgender who has struggled to find his identity and share it with his family and society.

Through the documentary “Draw With Me” , Brendon gives us a glimpse of how her family, school and social life changed after deciding to start her journey as a transgender .

"'Draw With Me' is a film about transgender youth and their journey to confess their identity to their family, and also to get involved in art to help them deal with the feelings they have during this process," explained Jennifer Lopez.

Brendon is the second child of Leslie, JLo's sister, who, together with her husband, Rob Scholl, supports their son's gender identity. In show business there are several celebrities who have shared their experiences when identifying as transgender.

On her Instagram account, the singer helped promote her nephew's first short film: “The film is important and current, and a historical message can have a gigantic impact on them and on us, who see and experience what Brendon and his family are going through. It is a story that is very close to my heart because it is a family affair and also because Brendon is my nephew "

Leslie Ann Lopez, Lynda Lopez and Rob Scholl participate in the short film, and with this they show the unconditional support of the whole family for Brendon, who has stood out as a visual artist.

“I spent many hours crying at night, I was very terrified to know what my life would be like from now on. Art was a catharsis to express everything that I couldn't say with words, but that I needed to get out of my system, ”he says in the trailer for the documentary.

One of the hardest episodes the Lopez family has decided to share in this short film about Brendon's struggle is his suicide attempt .

Brendon's mother, Leslie, tells with great emotion how she discovered that her son had taken various pills to end his life: “One of the turning points was when Brendon tried to commit suicide… I went upstairs and he said: I feel sick, I want to throw up".

Brendon wishes that with his short film many more young people like him can express who they are and discover their identity regardless of social prejudices.
