Simple sheet cake or elaborate cream cake? These wonderful, fresh cream slices combine both tastes in a simple way.

  • There's nothing like a nice piece of cake or tart.
  • These cream slices are juicy and fruity.
  • And very easy to bake.

Let's be honest: when it comes to baking, opinions can differ. Some people prefer simple sheet cakes, others more elaborate cakes. Some are satisfied with dry specimens (and possibly dunk them in milk or coffee), the counter -fraction only prefers juicy and creamy variants

This recipe is about cream slices. Here, too, there are many different ways to prepare them. The present one is a simple number. But it is neither a cake nor a sheet cake. But what should be said now: It is creamy, sweet, fruity and very tasty.

Recipe: the batter for the fruity cream slices

The dough for the cream slices consists of puff pastry * . Two layers have to be baked here - at least if you want to make the puff pastry yourself. One layer is the bottom of the cream slices. And the other one will be put on top of the pudding cream later. It is best to cut this puff pastry into squares or rectangles with a knife before baking. The base, on the other hand, is baked whole.

The filling for the fruity cream slices

The filling of the cream slices consists of vanilla pudding and cream. And leaf gelatine gives it the necessary hold. The pudding cream is refined with a little rum. If you want, you can spread your favorite jam on the puff pastry base, as in this recipe. How about currant or strawberry jam? This not only tastes wonderful with mild pudding cream, it also looks nice.

Fruity cream slices: the topping

There are different ways. The easiest way is to dust the cream slices with powdered sugar. If you want, you can also mix icing sugar and lemon juice and brush the puff pastry with it. By the way, if you want to give the frosting a little color: Simply stir some jam into the icing. And if you can't make up your mind, just like me, you can rely on everything.
