Because the car in his 80-year-old mother's garage suddenly had a wrong license plate number, the son was puzzled - and called the police. She could clarify where the car came from.

Two blue cars of the same brand in a parking lot and a car key that was left behind: an 80-year-old woman drove home from a supermarket in Baden-Württemberg in a strange car, triggering a police operation.

The 20-year-old owner of the car had left his vehicle key on the passenger seat in Oberrot in the Schwäbisch Hall district, the police said. While he was shopping in the store, the elderly woman got into his car in the parking lot and drove home with it.

When the 20-year-old returned to the parking lot, he thought his car had been stolen and called the police. The 80-year-old's son later noticed that the wrong blue car was parked in his mother's garage. He therefore also notified the police. The officers then returned both cars to their rightful owners.
