Customer reports anomalies: Asian sauce recalled from supermarket chain - warning of internal injuries

An Asian sauce that has been sold is being recalled. A warning is issued before consumption, there is a risk of dire health consequences.

Munich - Asian cuisine has been very popular in Germany for years. Many people in this country also prepare dishes with ingredients from Asia at home.

But now a sauce from the company Kreyenhop & Kluge GmbH & Co. KG, which is sold by the supermarket chain Edeka , has to be recalled. When consuming the product, consumers are at risk of serious damage to health * - including the risk of suffocation.

By recall * is affected by the Edeka brand "Ming Chu" the product "Mango Chutney Fruity Sharp" in 230 g glass. However, only the batch with the best before date (BBD) December 27, 2021 is part of the recall.

Recall: Edeka Asian sauce contains pieces of glass - danger of suffocation

According to Kreyenhop & Kluge, Edeka's importer of food from Asia and the Orient, a consumer reported "the discovery of pieces of glass in a glass" of the product from Edeka's Asian private label range.

Depending on the size and nature of the pieces of glass , these can cause cuts in the oral cavity, esophagus and gastrointestinal tract. There is also the risk that the glass parts will cause shortness of breath if swallowed , and even a risk of suffocation cannot be ruled out.

The corresponding product was sold in Edeka stores in a total of thirteen federal states. These are Bavaria, Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia .

Recall Asia sauce: Customers will be reimbursed the purchase price even without a receipt

According to Kreyenhop & Kluge, the affected branches were informed immediately and the corresponding goods were taken out of sale as a precaution. We strongly advise against consuming products that have already been purchased.

For customers who have already purchased the item, there is the option of having the purchase price reimbursed. This is also possible without any problems in the branch of the respective shop without presenting the receipt.
