"Playing King T'Challa in Black Panther had been the great honor of his career," said his family in this statement posted on Boseman's accounts on social networks, including Twitter. Also according to the text, the actor died "at home, surrounded by his wife and his family".

Before his key role in the blockbuster set in the fictional kingdom of Wakanda, the native of South Carolina was illustrated in the lead role of singer James Brown's biopic, "Get on Up", produced by Mick Jagger, in 2014.
