Emotional farewell at the Obelisk to the SAME doctor who died of coronavirus

With Alberto Crescenti at the helm, dozens of professionals paid tribute to Juan Lobel, who died on Saturday at the age of 47.

Dozens of health professionals convened this Sunday at the Obelisk to honor and say goodbye to Juan Lobel, the SAME doctor who died on Saturday from coronavirus after being hospitalized for almost two months. 

With a large deployment of ambulances from the Emergency Medical Care System and a helicopter flying over Republic Square, the doctors sounded the sirens around noon to pure applause and emotion.

The head of the medical service, Alberto Crescenti, recalled the memory of the deceased doctor with tears in his eyes and thanked everyone who was present. "I personally thank all of you, your families, your children, thank you for everything," he said on speaker.

Lobel was 47 years old, had four children and is the first SAME doctor killed by Covid-19 . He was hospitalized for eight weeks at the Güemes Sanatorium and did not suffer from any pre-existing illness. This Saturday his colleagues paid tribute to him at the door of the Palermo health center.

SAME doctor since October 2017, his death generated great shock among his colleagues and friends, many of whom expressed themselves on social networks and highlighted his professionalism and human qualities.

Dr. Juan Lobel from SAME de CABA passed away from COVID 19 after a long and painful fight. Great sadness.
