The new single "Queen and King" draws a straight line between 2020 and the 70s, and in the reality test actually fits and fits perfectly • Finally a little depth in our shallow playlist

After releasing his tribal African Rhythm Album last month, Kutiman has returned to more familiar and homely provinces. In his new song, "Queen and King", he also returns to collaborate with Shai Tsabari, one of the most prominent voices in oriental singing in recent years.

The two's joint resume already includes "Only at Nights" from 2018, and just like that excellent song - it's another of the same proven and successful recipe: Gaining confidence in the nostalgic Mediterranean serving and voice, Kuti brings the psychedelia, plus catchy and dancing riff. Something that draws a straight line between 2020 and the 70s (and thanks also to the Turkish singer Malika Sahin who composed and Ronen Sabo Shmix). Like the previous collaboration between the two, "Queen and King" is also planned to be released in Turkish. And if you have to compare - the whole business feels like a connection between Zohar Argov and Time Impala - a connection that on paper looks somewhat bizarre, but in reality test fits and fits perfectly.

By the way Seventies - even in the lyric segment this is what Americans like to call "Throwback". A kind of gesture, reincarnation or at least a self-conscious action. Like a love song to the love songs of yesteryear.

The text is signed by Elran Dekel, a member of the band Fankenstein, and with him Roi Freilich, lead singer of the band "Raines Girls". Not surprisingly, then, are the names that signify this successful outing, which you will likely hear quite a bit more on your radio for the rest of the summer. Dekel understands a thing or two about Grove, and Freilich has been one of the best songwriters in Israel for quite a few years, under the guise of distortion, pop or disco.

All in all, it’s refreshing to hear a well-written love song that contains, whoever thought possible, the possibility of depth in the shallow playlist waters of songs like “Cubes” or “Poor Trivia”. All this without harming the sound that the Israeli ear loves.
