The World Health Organization (WHO), which maintains a slower count as it expects each government to send it the total figures for its territory, registered more than 24.85 million cases and almost 839,000 deaths, according to its website.

The United States , with nearly six million infections and more than 182,000 deaths, tops both statistics, followed by Brazil with more than 3.8 million cases and more than 120,000 deaths, but India is approaching with more than 3.5 million infected and nearly 63,500 deaths.

While in Europe and Asia there are some important outbreaks , in none of those countries did the second wave of infections surpass the first, and even the Spanish Minister of Health, Salvador Illia , ruled out a return to total confinement in the country because "we are not as in March ", when the pandemic began that left more than 29,000 dead in the country.

The official's announcement was known before the start of a key week for Spain , which is reactivated after the summer break and faces a month of uncertainty at all levels, with the return to work of many citizens and the beginning of the school year in some regions.

The pandemic was also a main public issue in Germany , but because of the anti-quarantine rallies in Berlin. This Sunday there were new mobilizations and the Police had to disperse 2,000 people in that city.

According to a police spokesman, the assistants were too close, without masks , which is a violation of the city's Infection Protection Ordinance.

In the American continent, meanwhile, the first wave of the pandemic is still being experienced. Peru is close to 640,000 infections, Colombia to 600,000, Mexico to 592,000, Chile exceeded 408,000 and Argentina  with more than 401,000.

But the biggest concern of the day came from India, with the world record for infections in 24 hours. One of the main concerns in the country is that it continues to have a low level of testing, around 30,000 per million inhabitants.

This is the second lowest in the list of ten countries most affected by the virus, only surpassed by Mexico, which registers a level of 10,000 per million inhabitants, according to the specialized institution Wellcome Trust / DBT India Alliance .

With the new number of infections, India ranks as the country with the most new cases per day in the world and confirms that its curve continues to rise since only three days ago it had reached its previous record with 75,700 new infected.

The Ministry of Health also reported 948 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total in the country to 63,498, a figure much lower than that of Brazil, almost half.
