A tribute to maestro Ennio Morricone will open the Inauguration Ceremony of the 77th Venice International Film Festival, broadcast live on Wednesday 2 September on Rai Movie starting at 7.00 pm. (HANDLE)


(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 30 - A tribute to maestro Ennio Morricon will open the opening ceremony of the 77th Venice International Film Festival, broadcast indirectly on Wednesday 2 September on Rai Movie starting at 7.00 pm.
   The Roma Sinfonietta, conducted by Maestro Andrea Morricone, son of Ennio, and composed of 3 first violins, 3 second violins, 1 viola, 1 cello and 1 double bass, will perform Il Tema di Deborah on the stage of the Sala Grande of the Palazzo del Cinema, soundtrack of Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in America (1984).
   The opening ceremony will see the presence of Ennio's son, Marco, and family members.
    Ennio Morricone, former Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 1995 Film Festival, was one of the most influential and prolific musician and film composers of the second half of the twentieth century. In this way, the Biennale intends to pay homage to his universally recognized genius. (HANDLE).
