During the night of the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards there was an emotional moment when remembering the late actor Chadwick Boseman , who lost his life on August 28 due to colon cancer.
Through the official Twitter account of the VMAs, it was announced that this year the ceremony would be in honor of the famous man, known for his starring role in the Marvel movie "Black Panther".
Keke Palmer , host of the gala, began by saying, "We dedicate tonight's show to the man whose spirit touched so many. He is a true hero, not just on screen, but in everything he did. His impact lives on forever." .
MTV's way of paying tribute to Chadwick was by repeating his speech at the 2018 ceremony, when he won two accolades for "Best Hero" and "Best Performance" for his character as King T'Challa.
That moment remained in everyone's memory because the famous man decided to share his award with James Shaw Jr. , a citizen who became known for disarming a subject in a shooting in Tennessee, United States.
"Receiving an award for playing a superhero is incredible, but it is better to recognize the heroes that we have in real life," Boseman said on that occasion, inviting James to take the stage.
"The world needs more superheroes", was the phrase with which the moving clip began . "Chadwick Boseman helped make that happen. Rest in power," the MTV tweet reads .
In addition to the tribute to Chadwick, during the award ceremony some of the personalities who died in recent months were also remembered, such as actress Naya Rivera and rapper Pop Smoke , among others.
