There are no more
intensive therapy beds
available
in the
Cipolletti
health system
, in Río Negro.
And we must “prioritize” which coronavirus patients are admitted to treat with a respirator.
This was recognized by Claudia Muñoz, director of the Cipolletti Hospital “Dr.
Pedro Moguillansky ”, in dialogue with
Diario de Río Negro.
As reported by that medium, the health center has 14 intensive therapy beds.
Ten of them are destined for Covid-19 cases.
“One of the things that has been marked is age.
Attention is not denied to anyone, what is being analyzed is
the issue of whether or not to use a respirator
”, said Muñoz.
"I understand it because it is very hard, it may be my father, but
in Cipolletti today we do not have beds,
" continued the director of the hospital.
Who "could be his dad" is a patient whose case has resonated in the local media in recent days.
It is about
Luis Anastassi, an 80-year-old pastor.
The man was hospitalized with oxygen but without a respirator, because the hospital did not have one.
“We urgently need a respirator, please.
Don't let him be abandoned
”, pleaded his wife, Malena, in a video broadcast by
La Mañana Cipolletti.
“The refusal that they cannot give him an artificial respirator was due to the fact that he is an old person or that he is not active.
It was the excuse
that the health personnel made for not giving him the respirator, ”Bernardo Posse, vice president of the Río Negro pastoral council, denounced before the same media.
Finally - according to what was reported in various local media - the man was transferred to a hospital in the city of Allen.
In a statement, the Cipolletti Medical College warned about the "seriousness" of the situation: "Today the health reality has worsened: the public-private health system
has collapsed
, that is,
there are no beds to admit
, to anyone" .
“The health personnel are working in such a way that they also compromise their own lives.
There are no more human resources
”, continues the statement published at the end of July.
As reported on Sunday by the Río Negro Ministry of Health, in Cipolletti
there are 297 cases of active coronavirus
, 283 cured, and so far there have been 24 deaths.
The city of Rio Negro is very close to Neuquén, where Covid-19 cases also soared and last week they announced a reinforcement in sanitary measures.
This reflects a complex situation throughout the region.
