A "coalition between our member states to inform of our actions and move forward jointly to implement the best possible measures on providing safe school education for all".
This is the first point of the commitments signed in a joint declaration by the WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge and the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, at the end of the summit with 53 countries.
Countries then pledged to share a range of data to gather more information on the impact of Covid-19 on children, their families and communities for future policies and pledged to preserve equity as a fundamental guiding principle .
"We cannot let children become the hidden victims of this pandemic," the statement read.
"Once again Italy in the front row to develop useful strategies to fight the coronavirus. Thanks to the minister @robersperanza today 53 countries are confronted with the WHO on the reopening of schools in safety. Today this is our priority".
Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte writes it on twitter.
