In the test at Stiftung Warentest: Car-sharing companies with an app for their offers.
These are the best providers.
Stiftung Warentest * put 8 providers under the microscope, all of which enable car sharing via app
A car sharing app could not convince the experts at Stiftung Warentest
Stiftung Warentest recommends registering with several car sharing providers
Kassel
-
Stiftung Warentest has
recently been researching
app-
based services
more frequently
.
In one of their last tests, Stiftung Warentest took a close look at online banking apps *, for example.
This time, however, the experts devoted their attention to the
app
offers from
car-
sharing companies.
Test: Car sharing via app can be done in different ways
Stiftung Warentest
tested a total of eight different providers.
Six
car
sharing providers
were able to
come up with their own fleet.
Some of these had extra stations for picking up and dropping off the vehicles.
Others can do without them, this system is known as
free floating
.
Two of the
apps
tested
specialize in sharing private cars.
One of the
car-
sharing services did
not withstand
the test by
Stiftung Warentest
and was only rated as
poor
.
Car sharing via app had to be able to do this in a test at Stiftung Warentest
In the investigation by
Stiftung Warentest
,
car
sharing via
app was
rated according to various criteria.
The driving category has the largest share of the overall rating, with a total of 70 percent.
Under this point, the availability, pick-up and return were evaluated and also the vehicle condition of the cars that can be
booked
via the
app
.
Registration as well as the search and book function were also rated.
Car-free neighborhoods are possible.
The goal is a liveable, environmentally friendly and fair redistribution of space: No unnecessary car traffic, car parking spaces for bicycle parking spaces, stopping areas and gardens.

Stiftung Warentest: Data transmission behavior in the car sharing app examined
The experts from
Stiftung Warentest also
determined whether the
app
could display uncritical data transmission behavior.
The
criterion was met
for a
car
sharing
app
that only sent the required data.
It was classified as critical for those who also accessed personal data.
A lawyer from
Stiftung Warentest
examined the
terms
and
conditions
and data protection
declarations
for disadvantageous content.
Only one car-sharing app was rated insufficient in the test by Stiftung Warentest
In total, five of the eight
car-
sharing
apps
tested
by
Stiftung Warentest were
given an overall rating of good.
All of the
car-
sharing providers
rated with good
have their own fleet.
The shortcomings in the terms and conditions and in the data protection declaration were only
clear or even very clear
for the two providers without their own vehicles,
SnappCar
and
Getaround (Drivy)
.
Their data transmission behavior was also
classified as critical
by
Stiftung Warentest
.
Throughout the test, however, only the designated
app
of
Cambio
, the
car
-Sharing system of Deutsche Bahn
Flikster,
and
Stadtmobil
to an uncritical behavior.
Stiftung Warentest: Car sharing via app in price comparison
Car
sharing must of course also be profitable, which is why the cost of the
service
that can be booked via the
app is
the decisive criterion for many.
Stiftung Warentest
has divided its price comparison three.
They each rented the cheapest small car for:
30 minutes - 5 kilometers
1 hour - 10 kilometers
5 hours - 40 kilometers
1 weekend - 500 kilometers
The
car
sharing companies
SnappApp
and
Getaround
(Drivy)
could not be considered
in this category
.
For these, the price is set by the private landlord.
With the short distance of 5 kilometers and half an hour rental, the
car
sharing
app
from the
Sixt
provider was able to
convince in
terms of
price.
Here the experts from
Stiftung Warentest
paid
just 2.70 euros.
When the time and distance were doubled, the provider
Cambio was
the cheapest, renting it for just 4.80 euros.
Stiftung Warentest: Car sharing via app even over longer distances
In terms of price, one provider in particular was able to score points for longer routes and longer rental periods.
The provider
Stadtmobil
rented
its smallest car to
the testers from
Stiftung Warentest
for 12.50 euros.
This price was valid for a rental period of 5 hours and a driving distance of 40 kilometers.
The
car-
sharing company was also able to score points
for weekend
rentals.
Stiftung Warentest: Car-Sharing App from BMW and Daimler are often too expensive
With 500 kilometers covered, this cost 154 euros for the testers from
Stiftung Warentest
in the standard tariff.
This
puts
the provider just behind the
Miles
car-
sharing
app
.
This offers the same service for 176 euros.
The
car-
sharing
app
Share Now from Daimler and BMW was the most expensive in the first three test drives.
According to
Stiftung Warentest
, this was sometimes even more than three times as expensive as the cheapest tariff.
Stiftung Warentest: Car sharing via app is also possible for private providers
The two
bottom
lights in the
car-
sharing
app
comparison by
Stiftung Warentest
offer both cars from private individuals for hire.
The advantage over the
app
competitors is availability.
The
car-
sharing service of the last-placed
SnappCar is available
in 1,100 cities.
The one from the penultimate provider
Getaround (Drivy)
is the only
car-
sharing
app
available nationwide.
Stiftung Warentest: A car sharing app landed in last place
The loser,
SnappCar
, lost points, especially in the main test
category
, driving.
The availability was
rated as poor
by
Stiftung Warentest
.
The reason for this was that 18 inquiries were rejected or remained unanswered.
Only 4 trips could be made here.
Searching and
booking was also
only rated as satisfactory
by
Stiftung Warentest
at
SnappCar
.
The
car-
sharing
app Getaround (Drivy)
scored very well
for availability, collection and return
.
Stiftung Warentest: Deficiencies in data protection worsened the rating of Car-Sharing App
However, the condition of the vehicle was only rated as satisfactory.
Added to this are the very clear deficiencies in the data protection
declaration
, which led to a devaluation in the overall rating of
Stiftung Warentest
, so the
Getaround (Drivy)
app
only got a poor, satisfactory result with a school grade of 3.4.
Overall,
Stiftung Warentest's
recommendation
to register
with various
car-
sharing providers and compare individual routes makes sense, but the
app of
the loser in the test should probably be avoided.
Stiftung Warentest: Appropriate test for the grill season
Stiftung Warentest has not only examined app providers recently.
In keeping with the start of the grill season, Stiftung Warentest also paid attention to various electric grill offers *.
Of course, Stiftung Warentest does not examine non-food items; most recently oat drinks * were put to the test here.
The result even surprised the experts.
The Stiftung Warentest recently also addressed the issue of early retirement *.
So maybe you too will benefit from a pension at the age of 63.
Many people ask themselves this question: wash your hair, but with which product?
Stiftung Warentest tries to shed light on the darkness in a test *.
The safety of children is a priority for many, and this also applies to riding in the car.
Stiftung Warentest has examined the seats * required for this.
What are the youngsters doing on the smartphone?
Various apps are available to monitor children's activities on cell phones and tablets.
But according to Stiftung Warentest, not all were convincing.
