A pedestrian was hit by a train in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and killed.
The 46-year-old wanted to cross the tracks on Tuesday, according to witness statements at a level crossing in Ducherow with the barriers closed, the police said.
Apparently she overlooked the train on the way from Stralsund to Eberswalde.
There are no indications of a suicide.
According to the police, the Intercity was on a so-called transfer trip, it had no passengers on board.
The onward journey was carried out by another train driver.
The site of the accident was closed for about four hours.
