(by Elisabetta Stefanelli) (ANSA) - ROME, 04 SEPT - A bronze statue from 1936 which represents the three sisters, or Miriam, Simona and Giulia Mafaiintente in reading, as depicted by their mother Antonietta Raphael.

Now the youngest, Giulia (born in Rome in 1930), has decided to donate it to the Jewish Museum of Rome, and will be discovered with a ceremony on Sunday 6 September on the occasion of the 21st European Day of Jewish Culture.

But for her it is `` a verse dedicated to all the little girls erased by the tragedy of life ''.

'' It is the three of us children who read - Giulia explains to ANSA -, that is, it is a banal, obvious familiar image, because seeing light girls was banal.

When I decided to donate it to the Jewish Museum, however, I chose that one because it was the most indicative.

Me Miriam and Simona were very lucky, but how many girls like us didn't make it?

Senator Liliana Segre is the same age as me.

Anne Frank had an age of Simona.

I hate rhetoric and monuments, but it seemed to me that I was dedicating a poem, or rather a verse, to all those things that must be and have not been.

How many little girls were you stuck in their life?

A verse for what could come and the tragedy did not end.

To the children who have not returned, and who could become journalists like Myriam, artists, politicians like Simona, costume designers like me, or even mothers, what life can give from 6 to 8, to 10 years ''.

The unveiling of the sculpture will take place on Sunday 6 September at 1.15 pm at the Casina deiVallati in Rome (Largo 16 October 1943).
